The cheerleader knows her way along the sidelines

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - 1 of the Tennessee State University cheerleaders at the homecoming game Saturday will be somewhat more experienced than the others.

Burnece Walker Brunson is 97 years old.

Brunson told WKRN-TV (http://bit.ly/QpWifC ) she first cheered on the Tigers as a member of the university's cheerleading squad in 1934-35. She will suit up again for TSU's centennial homecoming game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Brunson said she won't be doing back flips, cart wheels or be part of a pyramid. She never did. Cheerleaders didn't do what Brunson calls that "fancy stuff" back then.

This won't be the first encore for Brunson. The retired schoolteacher got back into uniform for the 2003 TSU homecoming. She was only 87 then.
