ALBANY, Ky. (AP) - A 48-year-old Kentucky man has died after a truck struck his Schwinn moped and threw the rider off the vehicle.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Nick Davis says Bharatkumar Batel of Albany died Sunday night. Davis says Batel was driving on US 127 in the Albany city limits when a truck driven by 80-year-old John Byers of Albany struck the moped at about 8:05 p.m. CDT.

Davis says Batel was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the moped. Byers, who was belted, was not injured.

Batel was transported to the Clinton County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the Clinton County Coroner's office.
