HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - Southaven Mayor Greg Davis has paid the $968 in fines resulting from his misdemeanor traffic case in which he was found guilty of passing a stopped school bus in his personal vehicle that was equipped with blue police lights.
Davis had 30 days to appeal Justice Court Judge Steve Ross's ruling last month.
DeSoto County Justice Court Clerk Shirley Beshears tells The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/Vksgwo) that Davis paid the fines on Tuesday.
Davis said he requested that he go to driving school, so the misdemeanor charges would not appear on his driving record.
The charges stem from a March 22 incident in which a DeSoto County school bus driver filed a complaint against Davis, alleging he failed to stop as the bus discharged children.
