FOREST, Miss. (AP) - Law enforcement agencies in Scott and Leake counties are discussing the launching of a Crimestoppers program.
Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee tells the Scott County Times (http://bit.ly/RiuTJZ ) that he's been looking at the program for a while.
He says it is a way to help get the public more involved in fighting crime through simply providing us with information.
Lee says the program helps remove criminals from the streets and rewards those who call in tips.
The program is financed through adding a surcharge to fines collected in the county.
Lee says he hopes to bring towns in the county into the program.
Forest Police Chief Will Jones said he is interested in the program and will talk to the city officials.
