No cause of inmate's death yet released

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - The cause of a Hamilton County Jail inmate's death has not yet been determined.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/STzbGu ), the person was 48-year-old Phillip Dale Ellis. The newspaper cited court records as the source of his name, reporting the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office declined to release it on Wednesday.

Ellis was found unresponsive in a cell on Saturday.

He was arrested Sept. 20 on warrants stemming from a threat investigation. Investigators said Ellis is accused of pulling a gun on a parking lot attendant on Sept. 18.

Officers who went to his home to arrest him reported finding an indoor marijuana growing operation.

Before his arrest last month, Ellis had received only traffic violations.
