ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - Police say a 4-year-old boy was struck and killed by a dump truck in Elizabethton.
According to the Elizabethton Star (http://bit.ly/SUTQKm ), the child was walking across a major street in the city Thursday afternoon when he was hit. The boy was unresponsive at the scene.
Elizabethton Police Capt. Greg Workman confirmed the child had died. His name wasn't immediately released.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation because a commercial vehicle was involved.
