Due to regional economic softness, Fitz Casino and Hotel in Tunica, Miss., has decided to move forward and implement a reduction in its workforce, the casino's management team decided on Tuesday.
It is unclear how many employees will be out of a job or when they will be asked to leave.
Due to seasonal business fluctuations and increased competition, casino management has re-evaluated multiple areas to find synergies and efficiencies. Consequently changes to the organizational structure were necessary, which has resulted in some positions being eliminated.
Management has analyzed the business environment of the market and looked for areas of moderate and long-term market demand. As a result management revised the organizational structure, positioning the employee base to better meet the needs of the property and our guests as well as anticipated organizational development for the future.
In consideration of this difficult decision the company recognized the importance of providing severance packages for those team members that were displaced, in addition to ensuring that they will be eligible for rehire if the situation changes
