MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Back Yard Burgers closed six of its company-owned metro Memphis restaurants and one in Jackson two days after they shut down all of its corporate locations Sunday in Arkansas.

A restaurant spokesperson said the metro Memphis and Jackson stores were under-performing, so they were closed without warning on Tuesday.

The five company-owned Memphis stores were located on Poplar Avenue near Midtown, Hickory Hill, Shelby Drive, Austin Peay, Summer Avenue and in Millington.

"We regret having to close some of our Company-owned restaurants in Memphis," Monte Jump, Chief Marketing Officer for Back Yard Burgers said in a news release to FOX13 News. "Like any responsible company during these challenging times, Back Yard Burgers is conducting a comprehensive review of its business to ensure the Company is operating efficiently and positioned for future growth. We remain committed to continuing to provide high-quality, freshly prepared, great tasting food to our customers in our remaining Memphis locations and other markets we serve. We are pleased to report that Back Yard Burgers franchise-owned locations remain in Memphis as well as 17 company-owned locations."
