JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - The Convocation Center at Arkansas State University is getting a $2.2 million upgrade.
The center at the Jonesboro campus that seats 10,500 fans opened 25 years ago. The renovations include a new roof covering and some fresh technology.
ASU is installing new video boards at the four corners of the facility and a new sound system.
Patrons will also see a new 18-foot-long mural that features images and tickets from performances the center has hosted.
The Jonesboro Sun reports (http://is.gd/v84Bdg ) the audio and video will be up and running when ASU's women's basketball team opens its season on Oct. 29.
Money for the upgrades is from the university's general fund.
The original cost of the Convocation Center was $18.6 million.
