EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - Trial has been postponed for a woman who is accused of killing her mother and hiding the body in a car that was submerged in a creek.
A judge on Monday granted a delay in the trial of 42-year-old Donna Jett, whose trial was to have begun on Tuesday. The proceeding is now set for Dec. 19.
Jett is charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.
The El Dorado News-Times (http://is.gd/6bbI02 ) reports that Jett is accused of killing Mary E. Cross of Norphlet in 2011. The body was found in the trunk of a car that was sunk in Smackover Creek.
Jett's then-boyfriend Telly Denton earlier pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse. Sentencing is pending.
Jett has pleaded not guilty.
