GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to racketeering for allegedly trying to buy large quantities of marijuana in Mississippi for distribution in Georgia.

Raldo Booth pleaded guilty to the charge Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Gulfport, Miss.

A DEA agent's affidavit says Booth discussed with an informant buying as much as 500 pounds of marijuana in April.

The affidavit says Booth brought $20,000 to a subsequent meeting in July in Gulfport and as attempted to buy 50 pounds when he was arrested. Booth allegedly told the informant that he would bring more money and buy a larger amount the next time.

Court records say Booth told the informant he had sold marijuana in Savannah, Ga., and that the car he was driving had Georgia plates.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 23.
