Some council races not on Jonesboro ballot

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - An error in ballots in Jonesboro has prevented some residents from being able to vote in a number of city council races.

The mistake was fixed Thursday, but early voting began on Monday.

Jonesboro television station KAIT reports (http://is.gd/r4992k ) that the Craighead County Election Commission was alerted Wednesday by a voter who noticed the mistake.

Until the mistake was fixed, some east Jonesboro residences weren't able to vote in three races for alderman seats.

Election officials say the mistake was due to confusion over redistricting.

Officials say it's unclear how many people were given the wrong ballot, but the votes already cast will count despite the absence of the municipal races.

The election commission reprinted paper ballots and made them available Thursday at 8 a.m.
