MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - The contractor approved to build two new welcome signs in Moss Point has received notification to proceed, and said he would begin preliminary work this week.
Community development director Daphne Viverette tells The Mississippi Press (http://bitly.com/YhU4AL ) the start date for the work is Thursday. Viverette expects the work to be completed in about a month.
Built Rite Signs of Gulfport was awarded a contract to build a sign at the intersection of U.S 90 and Miss. 63 and another near Pelican Landing.
Danny Summers, co-owner, said he picked up construction permits on Monday.
A grant from the Mississippi Department of Transportation's Urban Youth Corps Program will pay for the signage, which has a budget of $21,000.
