Ark. man fatally stabbed during home invasion

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Fort Smith police say a man is dead after being stabbed during an apparent home invasion.

Cpl. Patricia Sullivan says officers were called to a burglary about 4 a.m. Monday at a home on the city's west side where a man allegedly broke into the home and stabbed a man who lived there before being subdued by other residents.

Sullivan says 24-year-old John Jackson died later at a Fort Smith hospital as a result of the stab wounds.

Sullivan identified the suspect as Eric Boyd and say he's hospitalized in critical condition after being found unconscious on the floor of the home where Jackson's brother and father had subdued him. Boyd's injuries were not released.

Sullivan says there have been no arrests made in the case.
