BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Some Biloxi residents expressed concern on the redistricting of the ward lines at a special City Council meeting.
The council was faced with the decision to adopt 1 of the three proposed redistricting maps.
Several residents spoke out against a plan, which split the Oak Place neighborhood on Kensington Drive in East Biloxi between two wards, and a second plan that would split the downtown area.
On Tuesday, The Sun Herald reports (http://bitly.com/Rq5IUX ) the council unanimously chose a plan, which does not split the downtown area and keeps Kensington Drive.
The next step is for the council to officially vote on the plan and then present it to the Justice Department. The next council meeting is Nov. 6.
