Tupelo man acquitted on child porn charges

ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) - Steven Metcalf of Tupelo has been found not guilty of federal child pornography charges.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/Ru8jAN ) that a federal jury in Aberdeen returned the verdict Tuesday. The 47-year-old Metcalf went on trial Monday.

Metcalf was indicted last February on two counts. He was accused of using the minor to make images of sexually explicit conduct for distribution in July 2011 and with having pornographic images on his cellphone in September 2011.

If convicted, he could have faced up to 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Metcalf pleaded not guilty to the federal charges in March.
