Industry found in residential neighborhood

ST. MARTIN, Miss. (AP) - Jackson County supervisors say the Planning Department is looking into an industry that sprang up in a residential neighborhood on Back Bay in Old St. Martin.

Supervisors tell The Sun Herald (http://bitly.com/Vy0XiP ) many homes in the area were wiped out by Hurricane Katrina and owners have been slow to build back, but it is not zoned for business or industry.

Officials say it appears that a piece of property on the water is being used as a staging area, possibly in connection with the BP cleanup aftermath.

Rocky Johnson, who lives in the area, went before the Board of Supervisors on Monday and complained of the added traffic and heavy equipment noises.
