MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The University of Tennessee is trying to answer the question 'is homosexuality a choice or genetics?'

Their newly-released report says that children may inherit homosexuality from their parents.  The research uses mathematical modeling to show sexual orientation may not be linked to genetics exactly, but to the chemicals attached to DNA that turn genetic markers on and off.

This new theory centers around an additional layer of information attached to our DNA that directs exactly how our genes are expressed.

These EPI-markers are typically created  with each generation, but the new scientific evidence shows they can be passed down from parents.   When those EPI-marks are passed to the opposite-sex offspring that is, from fathers to daughters or mothers to sons, it can lead to a sensitivity in testosterone.

Darrell Greene asked the Tennessee Equality Project, what they think about this new study.
