MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - The Moss Point Board of Aldermen has awarded a contract to Dan Hensarling Inc. of Gulfport to build the new police station and construction could begin within the next two months.
The Mississippi Press reports (http://bit.ly/U75aHb) the board of aldermen voted unanimously to award the contract to Hensarling as lowest and best of 4 bidders after considering that all the bids again came in over the architect's estimated cost of $3.2 million for the new law enforcement building. Hensarling's bid was $4.2 million.
Preliminary design that city officials approved in June shows a 14,634-square-foot facility that includes a ground-floor jail to hold seven females and 17 males, plus others in a holding cell.
