LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for several counties in southeast Arkansas.
Forecasters say "significant ice accumulations" are possible as freezing rain and sleet fall on the state Tuesday. The ice storm warning is in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday for Arkansas, Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew and Lincoln counties.
The weather service says some areas could see up to three-tenths of an inch of ice. Forecasters say that much ice will likely down trees and snap power lines in the affected areas.
The weather service also says a light wintry mix is possible in central Arkansas along the Interstate 30 and U.S. 167 corridors. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing in the afternoon.
