Snow falling across Central Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The National Weather Service says snow is falling over much of Central Mississippi with 2 to 4 inches expected by midmorning Thursday.

Meteorologist Alan Campbell in Jackson says the heaviest activity is along the Interstate 55 corridor from Grenada in the north to Crystal Springs south of Jackson.

Campbell says the winter weather warning for the Jackson metro area will expire at 9 a.m. and for the rest of the region by 12 p.m. The high temperature in the Jackson is expected to reach into the upper 30s and some spots could see the low 40s.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation says ice has accumulate on Interstate 220 and Interstate 55 bridges in Hinds County and snow is reported on bridges in Holmes, Carroll, and Montgomery Counties.
