CORDOVA, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Cordova High School was on lockdown for part of the day on Tuesday after an intruder was spotted on campus. The Memphis Police Department made an arrest not far from the school just before noon.

Before classes started in the morning, there were several students involved in some sort of disturbance at the school. That situation was handled by Memphis City Schools security.

But later in the morning, a student told security officers at the school that someone who might have been involved in the disturbance was coming on campus, with a gun.

Security officers spotted a suspicious person coming into the school's lobby.  They chased him off campus and police took over.

Officers apprehended 19-year-old Kylan Vinson and took him into custody, charging him with trespassing and evading arrest. He did not have a gun at the time of the arrest.

FOX13 News has been told that the lockdown at Cordova High didn't last long since police was able to catch the suspect so quickly. It appears most of the students had no idea what had happened.

Parents are being alerted about the incident by the message from the automated "parent connect" system.
