Two officers assigned to the Memphis Police Department's Ridgeway precinct have been relieved of duty with pay for what the police department is calling "administrative issues."

MPD has confirmed the officers are Parker Culver and Marc Henderson. They were relieved of duty on Wednesday pending the outcome of an investigation, police spokeswoman Sgt. Alyssa Macon-Moore said.

There are no details on what the administrative issues were.

Police Director Toney Armstrong is out of town so there are no plans for a news conference to explain the firings.

A FOX13 News source said while the investigation includes talking to both officers, it's expected other officers will be questioned about some communiques circulated at the precinct.

Investigators are interviewing other officers at Ridgeway station. A police spokesperson said there were reports that this investigation involved threats made against the mayor, but those reports are false.

This isn't the first time officers working at the Ridgeway precinct have come under the department's scrutiny. Nearly three years ago, a lieutenant and two patrolmen were arrested for extortion and bribery involving a local nightclub owner. All three later pled guilty to accepting bribes and were sentenced to prison terms.

FOX13 News is working on obtaining the personnel files of Officer Culver and Officer Henderson.
