Demolition is set to begin on Memphis' historic W. C. Handy Theatre, largely thanks to the efforts of City Councilwoman Wanda Halbert.
 
While it's hosted such legendary acts as Louis Armstrong and the Bar-Kays, the now abandoned theatre at Park and Airways is considered an eyesore.

An unidentified clean-shaven man in a black Cleveland Golf ballcap and black Ducks Unlimited long-sleeved shirt stole an undetermined amount of cash from the SunTrust Bank branch on Poplar Avenue in midtown Memphis Monday afternoon.

It could be a "one-and-done" session, but a new round of  mediation talks over Memphis city and Shelby County schools merger lawsuit could continue until a Nov. 27 deadline if there's progress.
