Neighbors pull elderly couple from burning home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Neighbors pulled an elderly couple out of a burning home in Memphis.

Larry Redwood told WMC-TV (http://bit.ly/VHHFZf) that when he and another neighbor saw the flames coming from a neighbor's a home early Thursday morning they broke a window and got the couple out.

Boston mobster's lawyer: US atty gave him immunity

BOSTON (AP) - A lawyer for James "Whitey" Bulger has identified the federal official who he says gave the Boston mobster immunity to commit crimes while he was an FBI informant.

In court papers filed late Wednesday, attorney J.W. Carney says former U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Jeremiah O'Sullivan granted Bulger immunity for past or future crimes.

In interview DC sniper says he was sexually abused

WASHINGTON (AP) - Convicted D.C. sniper Lee Boyd Malvo said in a television interview that aired Thursday that he was sexually abused by John Allen Muhammad, his adult accomplice in shootings that terrorized the Washington area 10 years ago.

Opening arguments begin disgraced judge's trial

Final autopsies released in brothers' heat deaths

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) - Final autopsy results for two young Bradley County brothers who died of hypothermia in June found 3-year-old River Bates had a core body temperature of at least 109 degrees.
