Django Unchained Action Figures Under Fire
Django Unchained can't cut a break!The controversial Quentin Tarantino film has been making waves for it's subject matter and language, but now, it's the actions figures inspired by the flick that are outraging Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network. The Black activist group is asking for a national boycott of the 10-doll line of Django characters being sold on Amazon for a cool $299.Rev. K.W. Tullos, NAC's Los Angeles president, said: "Selling this doll is highly offensive to our ancestors and the African American community.The movie is for adults, but these are action figures that appeal to children. We don't want other individuals to utilize them for their entertainment, to make a mockery of slavery."The figurines are intended as collectibles for adults and were produced by the National Entertainment Collectibles Association in a partnership with the film's producers at the Weinstein Company. So, they actually weren't intended for children, especially with such steep pricing!!!These action figures might offend some people, but we're pretty sure that wasn't Quentin's intention, once again.
