After rumors surfaced in October that Niall Horan had started dating Amy Green, the One Direction member was quick to assert that he was very much single!

Well, it sounds as though while that statement is very much true these days, it may not have been way back then!

According to new reports, the pair have actually been seeing each other all this time, and even though the 20-year-old drama student left a four-year relationship to be with the heartthrob, they have called it quits after four short months!

Why, you may wonder?

Sources close to him insist he was simply just too busy to be in a committed relationship:

“Sadly, it is over between Niall and Amy. He finished it because he didn’t have enough time with everything he has to do. Understandably she was disappointed because she had been in a relationship before she started seeing Niall and chose him over her boyfriend. But there are no real hard feelings and they’re still close.”

However, insiders on her camp say it was actually the other way around:

“She found Niall a bit too immature for her tastes. It was like Niall’s first relationship, whereas Amy had been in a relationship before. They had a few silly arguments and it was really the beginning of the end. Niall used all the tools he could to woo her and he treated her really well. She enjoyed it while it lasted and hopes they’ll stay friends.”

Aww!

Well, at least both sides agree that there are no seriously hard feelings and all has ended amicably!

But frankly, with the Irish cutie and his bandmates prepping for the Take Me Home world tour, we can certainly understand why he would feel it was important to cool things off - at least for the time being so he can focus on his work commitments!

And who knows?

Maybe once things settle they'll find their way back to each other!

Or maybe there was NEVER anything going on to begin with, just like they stated back in October!
