Dog found dead, man charged with cruelty

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities have charged a man after his dead dog was found frozen to the ground in Memphis after icy weather moved through.

According to The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/V81CIF ), 28-year-old Zangerio Dogan remained in jail with no bond set early Wednesday. He was charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Jack Norris named to port authority board

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Gov. Phil Bryant has appointed Gulf Coast business leader Jack Norris to the Mississippi State Port Authority Board of Commissioners.

Bryant says Norris will assume the unexpired term of former port commissioner Frances Turnage, who resigned Dec. 14, 2012.
