Friday was a very special day in the life of Ms. Vera Young, a very sassy Memphian.

She turned 104 years young.

Ms. Young, who is an attorney, graduated from Manassas High School and Lemoyne Owen College. From there she went on to the Howard University School of Law.

Mediation in the municipal schools lawsuit has failed.

Each side walked away from the negotiation table on Friday after a third round of talks saying there is no way a compromise can be reached.

An unidentified woman stole an undetermined amount of cash Friday morning at the First Security Bank branch in Robinsonville, Miss., about 10 miles north of Tunica.
