HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A former Forrest County educator can avoid prison time following his guilty plea to having sex with a high school student if he complies with a detailed list of probation requirements.

Harrison Co. SO joins Internet program

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is now using the InterAct Public Safety Cloud, an Internet-based information-sharing network.

Sheriff Melvin Brisolara tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/Q5W6nr ) the technology will help officers access and share critical information with each other and with agencies in other jurisdictions.

Woman pleads not guilty to grant fraud

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A Bay St. Louis woman has pleaded not guilty to a charge of make a false statement for a homeowners-assistance grant to elevate her home.

A federal indictment returned Oct. 16 alleges Rhonda Lynn Verduzco falsely represented an elevation certificate had been issued to qualify her for a grant.

Biloxi council adopts redistricting plan
