Commission signals no funds to suburban schools

Jackson OKs $400M for fines, sewer work

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The city of Jackson has agreed to spend $400 million to make sewer improvements and to pay fines to the Environmental Protection Agency for releasing more than 2.8 billion gallons of minimally treated sewage into the Pearl River system over the last four years.

Breaking News Update:  The city watch for Uylanda and Nickolas Holliman has been canceled in Memphis.  Just moments ago, Memphis Police canceled that alert.  They're not saying why, or where the mother and son are.  The Cordova mom and son vanished on Friday night.
