Celebrating 53 Years of the Pink Palace Crafts Fair

Initially launched in 1973, the Pink Palace Crafts Fair has become a cherished highlight of the fall season in Memphis for five decades. The inaugural fair showcased approximately 30 artisans on the lawn in front of the mansion. Over the next twenty years, it evolved into a significant event, featuring an expanded array of fine craftsmen, traditional craft demonstrations, live music, children’s activities, and culinary showcases. As the museum grounds became too small to accommodate the thousands of attendees each year, the Friends of the Fair relocated the event to Audubon Park, where it now stands as the largest juried arts and crafts fair in the Mid-South.

Visitors can explore a diverse range of unique offerings, including pottery, jewelry, two-dimensional artwork, glass, wood, leather, sculpture, fiber, and much more. The festival atmosphere is enhanced by demonstrations from master craftsmen and live musical performances. Attendees can also enjoy food and beverage vendors, featuring craft beer and wine, along with popular snacks. For the little ones, there’s a petting zoo, a beloved choo-choo train ride around the park, pony rides, and a climbing wall to experience.
