Storage Wars Star Darrell Sheets Dead at 67; Alleges ‘Evil’ Cyberbullying Before Passing
Darrell Sheets, the fan-favorite treasure hunter known as “The Gambler” on A&E’s Storage Wars, has died at the age of 67. The Lake Havasu City Police Department confirmed that Sheets died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
The tragic news comes just weeks after Sheets took to social media to plead for help regarding a “very evil” person he claimed was systematically ruining his life through cyberbullying.
A Final Battle with Online Harassment
In early March, Sheets shared a series of distressing posts on Facebook, claiming his account had been compromised. He alleged that a “cyberbully stalker” was impersonating him to post offensive content and extort money from local businesses.
“I have been hacked by a very evil person,” Sheets wrote on March 9. “People are showing up to my work and wanting to harm me. The police are aware of this but [their] hands are tied because Facebook allows this and it is very bad.”
By March 11, Sheets claimed the harassment had escalated to felony-level stalking, stating the individual had been tormenting him for three years.
Tributes from the “Storage Wars” Family
A spokesperson for A&E released a statement expressing deep sadness: “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
Former rival Rene Nezhoda also shared an emotional tribute, confirming that the two were friends behind the scenes despite their on-screen competition. Nezhoda used the moment to speak out against online hate.
“He had a guy really tormenting him lately on cyberbullying,” Nezhoda said in a video. “Just cause you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us… it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody.”
The Legacy of “The Gambler”
Darrell Sheets was a cornerstone of Storage Wars from its debut in 2010 through 2023. Known for his high-stakes bidding style and “big hits,” he became one of the most recognizable faces in reality television.
He is survived by his two children, Tiffany Shane Sheets and Brandon Sheets.
