Tekashi 6ix9ine Surrenders to Serve Three-Month Jail Sentence

Tekashi 6ix9ine has officially surrendered to begin serving a three-month jail sentence.

The rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, reported to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being sentenced for probation violations related to his federal racketeering and firearms case. The sentence follows a plea deal connected to his earlier conviction.

The Metropolitan Detention Center is the only federal jail in New York City and currently houses several high-profile inmates. Hernandez turned himself in quietly but publicly, with the moment drawing widespread attention online.

The surrender was live-streamed by internet personality Adin Ross, according to Rolling Stone. During the nearly two-hour broadcast, Hernandez was surrounded by friends before entering custody. He later shared a clip from the stream on Instagram, writing, “Thank you guys so much, see you in 3 months.”

This marks the second time Hernandez has been ordered back to jail since his original release. The latest sentence stems from two separate incidents that occurred last year while he was under supervised release.

In 2018, Hernandez was arrested on racketeering and firearms charges tied to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang. Initially pleading not guilty, he later accepted a plea deal in February 2019, admitting guilt to nine charges. At the time, he faced a potential sentence of 32 years to life in prison.

Once one of the most streamed artists in the world during the late 2010s, Tekashi 6ix9ine has remained a polarizing figure, frequently making headlines for legal troubles and public controversies throughout his career.
