Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has revealed she is the latest victim of high-stakes credit card fraud. Taking to Instagram Live on Monday, the “Bodak Yellow” star detailed how four individuals managed to get hold of her American Express card details, racking up a staggering $60,000 (£43,000) in just one hour.
The unauthorized spending spree took place at luxury department store Saks Fifth Avenue and tech giant Apple.
“I Don’t Play About My Money”
Cardi B explained that she was alerted to the fraud via immediate notifications on her phone. “As soon as I saw that notification, I was like, ‘Saks $40,000, what the fk?’ Then, when I saw that Apple st—because like, who the f**k is spending $20,000 at Apple?”
The Bronx-born rapper didn’t hold back her frustration, issuing a stern warning to the perpetrators. “If I get your address before the people doing this investigation… I’mma get y’all beat the fk up,” she threatened during the livestream. “One thing about me, I don’t play about my fking money.”
Ongoing Investigation
While it remains unclear how the thieves obtained her AMEX details, Cardi noted that investigators already have visual evidence. She described one of the alleged suspects as being “bald-headed, with a very thick beard.”
Despite the financial headache, the rapper is currently pushing through the final leg of her Little Miss Drama Tour. The 30-date trek, which has spanned two months, is scheduled to wrap up on April 17 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fans are hopeful that the security breach won’t distract from the final shows of what has been a highly successful tour.
