Drake Confirms Iceman Release Date

Drake Confirms “Iceman” Release Date Following Massive Toronto Ice Stunt

After weeks of speculation, Drake has officially confirmed the release date for his highly anticipated new project. Taking to Instagram, the rap superstar shared a simple but striking image featuring red and blue text that read: “ICEMAN MAY 15.” While the social media announcement was understated, the physical promotion in his hometown of Toronto was anything but.

The 15-Foot Ice Block Challenge
Drake’s team constructed a massive ice tower in a downtown Toronto car park at 81 Bond Street. The structure—estimated at 15 feet high and 20 feet long—contained the album’s release date frozen deep inside.
Drake teased fans on Instagram, writing, “Release Date Inside,” which prompted a frenzy in the streets. According to Rolling Stone, eager supporters took matters into their own hands, with some using sledgehammers and at least one fan deploying a blowtorch to melt through the frozen monolith.
The stunt wasn’t without risks; signs surrounding the installation warned: “Danger Do Not Touch. This ice structure may break or collapse without warning… Any contact with the structure is at your own risk.”

Seeking a New Challenge
This unconventional “Iceman” rollout aligns with Drake’s recent comments about moving away from traditional marketing. In a rare interview with Complex last November, the artist admitted he was bored with the standard industry cycle and was “dying for a challenge.”
With the May 15 release date now set in stone (or ice), fans are waiting to see if the music reflects the cold, ambitious aesthetic of the Toronto spectacle.
