‘Obsession’ Lands Streaming Release Date at Peacock

Hit Horror Movie Obsession Gets Peacock Streaming Release Date

One of the biggest surprise hits of 2026 is heading to streaming.

It has been announced that Curry Barker’s breakout horror film Obsession will begin streaming on Peacock starting Friday, July 17.

The indie thriller, which premiered in theaters in May, quickly became one of the year’s biggest box office success stories.

What Is Obsession About?

The film follows Bear (Michael Johnston), a hopeless romantic who secretly has feelings for his co-worker, Nikki (Inde Navarrette).

After Bear makes a wish for Nikki to love him more than anything else in the world, his wish comes true—but with horrifying consequences. Nikki’s affection quickly turns into a dangerous obsession, setting off a chain of deadly events.

A Record-Breaking Box Office Run

Originally made on a reported $750,000 budget, Obsession became such a surprise hit that its digital release was delayed to extend its successful theatrical run.

After eight weeks in theaters, the film became the highest-grossing movie ever made with a production budget of $1 million or less (before inflation adjustment), according to TheWrap.

The film also became:

  • The seventh highest-grossing movie of 2026
  • One of only two original films since 2018 to earn more than $200 million at the domestic box office
  • One of the year’s biggest independent horror success stories

The previous record-holder was Bruce Lee’s 1973 martial arts classic Enter the Dragon.

Inde Navarrette’s Breakout Performance

The film has also helped launch Inde Navarrette as one of Hollywood’s rising stars.

The actress recently shared that she was working outside the entertainment industry before landing the role and revealed a “freaky” personal connection to Obsession long before she was cast.

With its massive theatrical success and growing fan base, Obsession is expected to find an even bigger audience when it begins streaming on Peacock on July 17.
